Has anyone ever seen anything like this for quilters?
|
I don't know about you, but I don't normally use a saw and hammer when I quilt. Hahaha
|
when i took a barn quilt tour, one house did not have a barn. but they had a double sided 'barn quilt' sign in the front yard and it said [their name] quilting studio underneath
|
I know what you mean by the signs. There are many more for shops then for studios. I've seen several quilt signs at craft shows.
|
I haven't, but it surely is cute!
|
my kids were 'on my nerves' the other day so I put a sign up on my quilt room door - AS A JOKE - that says BUG OFF :) They made comments on it while I was inside :)
|
The old adage was putting your shingle out. That would be cute for a "cottage" industry.

I saw one at our LQS shop..it says
Quilter Parking Only!! Violators Will Be 'Stitched in the Ditch' I thought it was pretty cute...crafty_linda_b |

gzuslivz - Bad dog...no biscuit! Ornery post.. but FUNNY! ******************************* I've seen some wrought iron work holding out sign names.. and even quilt blocks hanging from the wrought iron.. but not anything quite as ornate as the sign photo you posted. |
Me neither but some days I need a garbage dumpster.
Seriously, I have not seen one for a quilt shop but that type of sign would be nice with a quilting logo and a sewing tool of some sort. |
Ohhh.. I just had a great idea!
Have someone (your hubby or a local craftsman) use a jig saw or scroll saw to cut out a nice LARGE silhouette of an older sewing machine. Ck out clip art for design etc. Detail paint it up in charming colors and darling detail. Then hang a sign from that. I can visualize this VERY EASILY. Google "vintage sewing machine clip art......and you'll see some fun examples. |
A cute one would be a super large pair of scissors with the sign hanging under it, a sewing machine or quilt block with a sign hanging from it. Maybe someone could custom make one ??

Ok you all, my husband actually has a woodshop set up in our detached garage ( for personal use) and my sewing room is above his. That sign is actually from his woodworking magazines. It is metal but meant for inside as a cute door emblem. I just have always loved it and wanted one with a sewing machine on it to depict my work space. Thanks for the suggestions. I was hoping to just pick one up but I might just have to get my sweety involved!

I'll take a FW sign as long you we are placing orders.

Sounds like a business venture waiting to happen! Signs are a great idea.
|
You should make a quilt with your name and hang it off a yard stick :)
