Quilters Grid by Pellon
 

I just ordered 10 yards of this because I watched a YouTube video on making a quilt using this. Has anyone used this before and if so, how did you use it and did you like it?

Haven't used this myself, but I have a postage stamp pattern that calls for it. Would love to hear what others think.

I've used it for wall quilts. I think you may find the results rather stiff for a bed quilt because of all the seams. Then again I never washed the quilts so I don't know how it softens up. It's great for watercolor or pixelated quilts.

I used this product or a similar one years ago, and did a heart in watercolour style it worked great, just watched this little video to see if it looked the same & yes it is. One quilt show we went to the quilter hadn't placed her squares close enough together so when she folded & stitched some of the raw edges weren't caught in, just something to remember. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aU4w6IekRgg

I've used it many, many times over the years- I love the stuff! first time was a water color quilt class about 9 years ago- I've done lone star quilts with the same product (QuiltSmart has many different patterns that use the same interfacing with different 'grids/patterns') I've made many bed quilts (I don't generally do wall hangings) with it- I've never had any problems with stiff quilts- it washes up beautifully-soft- great drape. I generally always have a bolt of it in the closet for when ever I want to work on something with it.

ckcowl, nice to know it washes soft. I always wondered.

I use LOTS of the stuff, and buy it by the bolt. Its great for table runners. Just an FYI you can change your mind and remove a square if you heat it up with the iron it will come off.

Thank you for your answers. Now I'm glad I bought it. Maybe I should have bought more. I guess I still can.

I'm too cheap to buy it so I made my own by drawing lines on interfacing. Worked great and saved hundreds on a bed quilt. It was a little harder to quilt but still has good cuddle factor.

I used this stuff to make not 1 but 2 quilts and HATED it both times. The patterns was to put 4" squares on grid spaces, iron then down and then add the sashing, iron and then sew. Blocks ended up being on point. Most of the fabric did not stay ironed down so I had to pin it to get it to stay in place. I even called Pellon and their suggestions did not help. Bad paper??? I used different fabric for each quilt so I do not think it was sizing on fabric. I liked the pattern so I made twice having trouble both times. I will not se this paper again!!! Good luck if you use it.
