A quilter's horror story

This is shocking, scary, dismaying...

***link removed***

In a nutshell, this woman makes quilts from fabrics that the manufacturers send her. She produces patterns and writes quilting books. The manufacturers get advertising, and we get fresh ideas. Well, one fabric designer has served her with a lawsuit, claiming that their rights were violated because she included a photo made with their fabric to demonstrate a pattern in one of her books. She's being sued for $150,000 plus they want her to destroy all copies of the book.

I can't see how they could win this lawsuit against her. If they did, can you imagine the precedent this would set???? Would bloggers no longer be able to blog about their quilts? Would writers have to get releases from the designers before writing a book? Would manufacturers stop sending people fabric? Ugh. What are your thoughts?

Since none of us have access to all of the facts in this case, assumption, speculation and taking of sides is not really fair or appropriate.
