I think it's great that you were able to deliver them in person! What a heart-warming story. Makes me want to hurry up and make a bunch of quilts to give away. I guess that'll be my goal in Tucson this winter. I suspect I won't be able to deliver them in person. But that's not the point ~ ~ ~ I'll know they're going to someone who needs a warm hug.

That is nice and there are a lot of nursing home patients who need quilts or lap quilts too.

Our quilt guild has made quilts for Ronald McDonald House, families of military personnel killed in recent wars, NICU quilts which cover the incubators while the patient is there and then go home with them when they leave. Also for the local homeless shelter, Rape and Domestic Abuse families, and cancer hats. We have several work nights a year and everyone brings little goodies for treats and we just sew up a storm. It is amazing to see the pile finished in just one long evening. I have made quilts out of non-traditional fabrics, such as plisse, demim, and double knits. The homeless and those who have nothing appreciate them immensely.

What a blessing your quilts were to those teens. They will always remember their quilts because of the love they felt when they received their gift.

Jan, what's the scoop about your Bedford, VA "sew in"? What specifically will you be doing, or what kind of quilters are you looking for? Looking for out of town help as well? Just curious ...
