Quilting in borders of applique quilt

Seeing if anyone as any ideas for quilting a border of an applique quilt. Te quilt has 25 blocks, 24 are appliqued and the center block is pieced, and the border is pieced. I have tried coming up with how to quilt the border and center block, and all look too rigid if I do any straight line quilting. The appliqued blocks have echo quilting and they look great. I want the quilt to all be great wen done. I am quilting it for someone else, so that is making it even harder than if it was for myself.

Any suggestions??

I would love to see a picture first before I can make a comment on a border design.

A picture can describe the quilt the best.

For pieced blocks I usually let the blocks tell me how to quilt them.

if you have echoed the applique...did you do any small motifs in the corners or blank areas that you could enlarge to fill the borders and coordinate with blocks? i normally plan some little thing in the block just so i can use use it elsewhere, just as i would with color or pattern in the blocks...i never like for my borders to appear to have just been 'stuck on.'
