I sometimes jsut do free motion meandering including the plate designs. They really come out looking nice in spite of the fact that I didn't do anything special for the plate.

AndiR- these are all wonderful. Thanks for posting these. I have a Dresden Plate to have quilted too and these all have been beautifully finished. Mine are swap blocks so they are each unique. The setting isn't as ordered as these but I think I've got a plan. Thanks again!

I just finished a Dresden Plate and had someone quilt it for me. I have a Longarm, but am not ready to tackle something like it. I pieced my plates without sashing, so I had her echo a plate like motif in the area where the four blocks joined. To quilt the plates she put a daisy motif in the yellow circle and did a curved diamond shape on each wedge then in the ditch around the whole outside circle. I used a narrow yellow accent border then a fairly wide background border. She used feathers in it. There were lots of other touches too. It is absolutely stunning. It looked pretty good without all the quilting, but amazing with it. Someday I'm going to learn to longarm quilt like that!!!! Donna

I think your quilting is perfect for this design. And I like you sashing too. That's a very pretty quilt.
