I would like to buy a quilting DVD because there are no quilting shows on TV in our area any more. Does anyone out there have a recommendation? Which DVD is your personal favorite? (I thought I was getting the Fons and Porter one for my birthday, but an extra year of the magazine was substituted. ) I'd like visual pointers about quilting to supplement what I learn on this board.

Before you shell out some moola, you might want to check out what's available for free.
I think these are some of the best sites out there. All have excellent tips, blogs, and free videos covering everything from from needle and batting selection to actual how-to quilting videos. And, yes, they also all have CD/DVD's for sale. Leah Day & 365 Day FMQ Project http://daystyledesigns.com/ Diane Gaudynski: http://dianegaudynski.blogspot.com/ Patty Thompson: http://www.patsythompsondesigns.com/ Also check out youtube for numerous FMQ videos by other well known quilters. |
I watch Youtube quilting videos alot. You can find one for just about every technique out there.

Also check out Quilt in a day with Eleanor Burns, she has a lot of videos on her site! I have bought some of her DVD's and books. I will admit to being a little disappointed as her last book was printed in China. I have nothing against China, but I would rather be supporting the good old US of A. I sort of think of quilting/Eleanor Burns as being like baseball and apple pie...simply American.

Also for Eleanor Burns some of her videos you can view on-line. Have you checked with your local library? Some of them have the shows from PBS. I do like the Simply Quilts shows. Not sure if they have been placed on DVD or not.
