Alittle off the subject.....but.....Emblibrary.com's freebie for this month is a "quilted" sewing machine. You might be able to use it??

pattypurple 08-30-2012 03:38 PM

I just saw one on Facebook- "Quilters always press to the Dark Side" with an outline of Darth Vader around it
" a clean house is the sign of a broken sewing machine"

Gigi07 08-30-2012 04:57 PM

I love "a clean house is the sign of a broken sewing machine"! That's perfect!

I bought a pin years back that states "I have a weakness, I must confess it. I buy fabric just to possess it."

That describes me!

QuiltnLady1 08-31-2012 06:37 AM

She who dies with the most fabric did not make enough quilts.

Chester the bunny 08-31-2012 06:38 AM

Someone gave me a FQ with quilting related sayings.

"Is a nine patch part of a twelve step program?"
"Quilters know when to hold 'em and when to fold 'em"
"She who dyes the most fabric wins"
"A quilt on the bed is worth two in the head"

dinny50 08-31-2012 10:41 AM

Thank you for all your advice etc...will be looking at all possible sites

I love that one!!

I hate to be a nit-picker, but embroidery is a noun, the name of the process. Embroider is a verb and that is what you want to do to the fabric. May I say that you are not the only one who uses the term this way, either. Another of my pet peeves is "boarder" for border. A boarder is someone who pays to live in your home; border is the finishing edge on something: quilt, wall paper, or pictures. Please don't be offended by my comments; I just like to set the record straight.

Grammar Police almost as bad as Quilt Police.

When I was studying linguistics at university, a very dear professor of mine who was teaching an advanced class for students thinking of grad school said the following: "linguistics is wonderful but it could be detrimental to your social life. From now on you will pay no attention to what people have to say, but rather how they say it".

Let me try that again---------------------------------I need to tattoo "A quilt on the bed is worth two in the head" onto my arm.

I did finish up a couple sewing projects this week. And started a bunch new!

No one likes a show-off or to be corrected and embarrassed!

DaylilyDawn 09-01-2012 11:17 AM

How about this one: I have escaped from the Quilt Police!

Hey! lighten up eveybody! Some times "I" get typing faster than my brain works (or is it the other way around??), look up to see what I have written and it is in some STRANGE language..... we ALL make errors.... sew what ??? lol !

sewbeadit 09-01-2012 12:55 PM

I appreciate Carolynjo's comment. I don't know what saying she was talking about but I do like to learn and or keep up with grammar and spelling, etc. It is not easy for me.

I like to learn as well because I'm a fairly poor speller, but to correct people in public is ill mannered.

Me, too, LOL!

valleyquilter 09-01-2012 04:17 PM

Here is one for you, if you plan to put buttons or use button fabric on your quilt.
"Press button for maid service. If no one answers do it yourself."
Valleyquilter

captlynhall 09-01-2012 05:18 PM

I love the "Press button for maid service." I should make a bunch of mini quilts and post those all over my house.

Pilgrim 09-01-2012 08:23 PM

Is there a way to get these sayings printed. Neat sayings but I can't write them all down.

Pilgrim 09-01-2012 08:25 PM

Is there a way to print this?

Copy and paste in your word document and hit print. You can also save the doc and add to it later. I hope this helps.

I know whad you meen. I, personally, never make such errors. I specialize in typos. :)

To every one else, relax..... Is the lady who whispers to you telling you your skirt is tucked into your panties a fashion police? It ain't too late to learn, unless your dead.

MimiBug123 09-02-2012 12:15 AM

I've always liked, "She who dies with the most fabric didn't sew fast enough." ANother good one is, "A bad day quilting is better than a good day working."

dglvr 09-02-2012 08:32 AM

This is good. :)
