Quilting with Homespun Fabrics
Can anyone give me advice about quilting with homespun fabric? I've seen some used as an applique but wondered if the fabric itself would hold up to piecing. Any pattern suggestions?

I used homespun fabrics in a nine patch and in a random zigzag (sort of bargello-like but all the squares were the same size) along with other fabrics. As far as I know the homespun has held up well. Both were for elementary age children.

I have used homespun fabrics for years...they hold up wonderfully, both for pieced and appliqued quilts. Sometimes I will mix the homespuns with prints, but have also made many quilts just using the homespun fabrics. Pattern suggestions...just about anything, but if using larger plaids, you probably want larger pieces to show it off. I usually mix smaller plaids, mid size plaids, small checks, mid size checks and strips.I think the larger plaids are harder to work with, except for borders. Have fun!

I have used homespun in a rag quilt and it turned out great.

I typically use a larger seam allowance , because they are so ravelly.

I love them and use them right along with my cotton fabric in my quilts. I have seen several companies come out with new fabric lines in cotton and have coorindinating homespun or wovens also. Examples... arnolds attic and chelseas boutique, there have been others but cant remember the names. I love the look and feel of them in a quilt.

I love Homespun fabrics (Primitive is my LR theme) but I am terrified that they will not quilt right. I have seen some HS that are a cotton print and I am not sure how I like that.
