I am making a wallhanging 42" square including borders. The fabric is Michael Miller Venice which has scenes of Italy and writing. I am doing a coordinated border with continuous quilting around the blocks. For my quilt motif I want to write Italian words in the main block area. Is there any reason why these motifs have to connect? Can I write individual words with space in between as long as I don't have gaps wider than recommended (W&N)? Please advise me.

Thank you.

Your quilt, your rules. No reason why not except that it makes it easier to be continuous quilting by machine but you can easily stop, clip your threads and move to another area and start again. If you are handquilting there is also no reason not to.

feline and quilticing, I like your thinking. I'm just new enough that I didn't know if I might be missing something "structural". Thanks for your advice.
