Quilting question.

Do you believe the quilting distance recommendation on the batting package? I am using Hobbs 80/20 and they recommend quilting no more than 4" apart. I am qulting Card TRick" using SID around the cards. and in the center. However I have areas that are about 2 x5 1/2" with no quilting. Both sides of sashing are quilted. Do you think this is close enough? I really do not want to put anymore SID on the cards. Opions please!!!! Thanks!!!!!

I would go with the recommended distance. It will look ugly if, after a few washings, the batting bunches up because your quilting is too far apart. You don't want your quilt to look like a cheap mass produced $25 quilt after a year of use.

It's probably best to go with the instructions. But I have not always done it. I have some that were a bit farther apart than called for and they still look fine after many washes.

i would follow the instructions, because there is a reason for that. i don't know the mechanics, but some are made to be stitched further apart if you want to. i wonder what makes them that way.
