I am new to this,I have been sewing for many years and have a lot books on quilting but never made a quilt.I am excited to try but want to start with something easy.

Welcome to the board. Rail fence or a 9 patch are easy blocks. I actually started with a sampler so I learned a lot of techniques on my first quilt.

I am hoping you all can help

I made a log cabin for my first quilt. I took a class and was taught how to use a rotary cutter. Haven't looked back sine. The log cabin is still my favorite!

Your local quilt shop probably offers classes. That would be a great start...you'll avoid all the trial and error phase and have a great first quilt in a very short time:>)

I did sign up for a class but due to bad weather it was cancled and didnt have anymore

OneMoreQuilt 12-29-2010 05:10 PM

Welcome! Good luck with your first quilt. A Log Cabin, Rail Fence, Trip Around the World, 4-Patch or squares of several different fabrics are all good beginner's quilts. Most of all...have fun.
