It's a machine quilting technique developed by Karen McTavish. And it's really beautiful. Take a look at the link cynde posted and you'll see what we're talking about. I just recently learned how to do it. Now, on to to the many years it will take me to actually get good at it. :lol:

Is her technique only for longarm quilters?

No, it can be done on a domestic. I have a Juki domestic long arm and I managed ok. I should think any machine that you can do free motion on would work. It would probably be easier on a long arm, but what wouldn't? LOL

It's very pretty. Is the technique different from regular free-motion quilting or is it mostly a matter of the pattern and style?

Ok... her patterns are beautiful, and she is obviously very very gifted and talented. But the tattoos really weird me out. I like quilting, but I can't imagine wanting it all over my arms and shoulders like that.

It's a matter of pattern and style. She says that most people who try her technique, and work with it for awhile, develop their own "fingerprint". No two will ever look the same.

She must have just recently had the tatoo work done. I didn't notice any on her in her dvd. Pretty design, but... Yikes! That's a lot of tat there. :shock:
