Check local churches, too. they may be sending volunteers to help clean up. I sent a bunch of quilts that way after Katrina.

Count me in. I want to help. I will donate. If we could all donate even one quilt it would surely make a difference. I don't really like giving my quilts away unless I feel they will be appreciated and I have no doubt they would appreciate it. I feel like some of my quilts have been waiting for something ...maybe this is it.

The people here in the US help themselves and help each other and that would be part of helping each other if we knew what to do and where to send them. Keep us posted.

I used to live in Nashville, and I can feel what they are going through. Let me know what happens.

Project Linus has already been shippng quilts there to help the children. I have given my chapter 11 I had on hand. SO the older ones, over 18 could use something too. Red Cross is a good idea. We don't give them the Project Linus quilts because they are given to anyone and we have rules about ages. So our chapters give them out. It is nice to try to help. I cna mail some larger quilts when you find our where to ship them. Some churches will do it. Keep us posted.

I don't think Red Cross will be able to help with quilts. They are responsible for sheltering and feeding and can't usually spare the resources to deal with things like quilts. Also, I would wait for a little while because many of the people still aren't back in their homes and would have no where to keep a quilt. It's a great idea but right now the area is focused on meeting the immediate needs for everyone. There will be a long recovery period and quilts will be welcome a little later in my opinion.
