A qustion...on redwork/embroidery
 

I have read that some areas of the redwork once completed can be filled in a bit. I am figuring using a crayon, marker is what they mean. I think in some areas of the redwork this would enhance the redwork. Just not sure how to go about it. This is not in huge areas, just here and there. Thanks for any suggestion.

sounds like a very interesting technique. if i were to try it, i'd be tempted to use my fabric markers. please be sure to let us know how it came out.

I will let you know, the drawback is I have yet to start this one. Am finishing up a bluework christmas panel, but now think I might be tempted to try it out on this one and maybe the next one too? What kind of fabric markers do you have? I have to find them first. lol Thanks.

If you want "just a hint" of color, I'd go with crayola. Be sure to heat set, and I'd do a little practice piece to make sure it is what you want. Sounds interesting. I have a couple small red work blocks that I have done, but not finished. I think I'll try a bit of color on them. Might perk they up a bit! Thanks for the idea!

I might try the crayola way. But on scraps first.

Thanks, you know I almost picked up the Derwent Inktense Pencils once, but was not sure if I would have used them, should have bought them! Will look at the tutorials.

You can use regular crayons....to color, then you turn it over face down on paper towels, and hit with a hot iron, melts off the wax and leaves the color behind.....do a test piece first

before you color with crayon, do you put freezer paper behind it, to stabilize it?
