Raffle Quilt
Would love suggestions on a simple, large lap size quilt done in batiks to be raffled or auctioned at a charity event. Thanks to all for the wonderful comments on this site.

I think the carpenters star looks good and is quick and easy to make
http://www.quiltfrog.com/fourhourquiltclass.html or if you want something more modern looking how about a bento box type of pattern http://www.with-heart-and-hands.com/...-tutorial.html Hidden Wells is another that looks really complicated but is quite easy http://www.reddawn.net/quilt/hwells.htm |

What about this quilt? I hope the picture is not too small here. This is the first time posting a picture. It took me two hours to figure out the name of this quilt (I have been on the phone and searching high and low on the internet). I still do not know the name of the pattern. I had to go to the website of a local quilt shop and go through their whole year's calendar of classes that they had and click on each link to see if it was the right quilt that i was thinking of.
Trust me, when i saw this quilt in thier shop and it was done all in batiks, it was soooooo lovely. And yet, I do believe that it is quite simple and should be fast to put together. I know the picture does not do it justice, but batiks with this style looks great. Either this, or a Bento quilt, or a tube quilt - their is a demo on a particular style of tube quilt on the missouri star quilt company website. It also would look pretty in batiks and fast going. I hope this was helpful. |
Consider doing a children's quilt. Grandma and Grandpa may not find a quilt at the auction that fits their style, color scheme, etc., but if they are buying for a new baby or other grandchild, they will often splurge.

My new favorite is the Disappearing 9-patch. It looks complicated but isn't and the colors make the impact. Worls great with batics - both random or planned.

Thank you, woody, for these wonderful suggestions. Have never seen Hidden Wells before and it looks great.

You think I would have thought of grandma and grandpa - I have four little munchkins. Thanks for your suggestion.

Another great suggestion! Love doing Disappearing 9 patch quilts especially for my kid donations. You can see why I went to the Quilting Board for ideas - I'm totally lacking in imagination. Thank you for your help.

I love Judy Martins - Stone Cottage pattern. this is an easy quilt and easy to expand. It is in one of her Log cabin books , the snake river log cabin is on the front.
