Many years ago I made my first of many rag quilts. My hand grew so tired when snipping with regular scissors. I am so glad I invested in a pair of rag snips at the LQS I go to. Yes, they probably cost me in the neighborhood of 25-30$ but they have been worth every penny of it. Other than knowing it is a boring activity, I do not mind snipping my rag quilts at all. I think you would really like them were you to invest in a pair!

i made only 1 rag quilt with regular scissors and it was hard. I purchased the spring loaded scissors marketed for rag quilts and they are a god-send. I would never make another rag quilt without them. I recently made one from flannel with batting and the spring loaded scissors really helped my arthritic hands to be able to cut quick and easy. They are worth every penny.

How long are the blades on rag snips? Harbor freight has 2 sizes of spring loaded snipping shears.

Kat, I am thinking the blades on mine are about 3". Sorry, not at home to check for sure.
