really old Singer

Can anyone out there help me? My daughter had a very old Singer in her garage...needless to say...it is all rusted and frozen up. Can any one tell me anything about it ? The serial number on the plate as far as I can read it says...G9001409. It is loaded with decals everywhere. don't know how to send pics. Please help, if you can.

The serial number indicates a 1921 Singer 66.

Try oiling the machine and cleaning out and dust or lint...keep trying to get it to turn.... If you'd like, I'll PM you my email address, you can send pics to me and I can post them for you...

It would help if you can figure out the model of the machine. Try Googling "vintage Singer sewing machine" and then click on "images" to see if you can match one of the images to the machine. Some models are worth more than other models. I take it this is not a treadle machine? "Very old" means different things to different people.

There are vintage Singer groups on groups.yahoo.com that you might want to join if you decide to fix up the machine. There are ways of removing rust and unfreezing an old machine, but you need to know how to do it.

I aquired an old singer 66 Red Eye that was in pretty good shape but didn't turn easily and when it sewed it was sooooo slow, barely moved. My sweetie cleaned it up then turned her over and oiled everything and let it sit a while. then he took a clean rag and wiped the excess oil off and she started sewing like a charm. I sew on her every few days and she is 97 years old!!
