I am making a quilt that will be a wall hanging above my bed.
The pattern calls for triangle paper, I don't have any and am not going to buy any. Am I correct in thinking that for a 3 1/2 half square triangle (unfinished) I need my squares to be 3 7/8". Does that sound right? |
sounds right!!

That's the way I remember...add 7/8 to the desired finished size. But I'd try one first...well, I'd go big and trim for accuracy...better save than sorry.

Thanks everyone!!! I'm still deciding on my fabrics. I will probably cut it out and work on it after dinner.

3" finished cuts at 3 7/8"
I think it is easier to cut 4" and have a tad bit of wiggle room too :D:D:D |

I would cut mine 4" too, because no matter how carefully I stitch, my HST are NEVER the correct size afterward---I always have to square them up.

I agree....go 4" :D
