Reason to Make it NOW

I am plowing through UFO's this year. The one I have pulled out to work on is not my style. I don't know why I bought this fabric or wanted to make this quilt! It has been in the UFO tub for a few years now. I guess once upon a time, I liked it. Sure do wish I had finished it then. Now I'm wondering how many more I have stashed away that I won't like when I discover them?!?? Oh, we'll, I will finish it and someone will want it. My kids usually want everything I get finished.

Pretend you are cashing in on your (UFO stash) investments! :o

I was just listening to some hints on Pat Sloan's radio podcast. One of them was: "You don't have to finish it." I got rid of several unfinished knitting projects a few years back and it was very liberating.

Thanks for the suggestions. I am almost finished with it and will post a picture after Easter is over. I decided to finish it without investing in it anymore. I am using leftover squares and the fabric I had for borders to do the backing and binding. I got that all done this afternoon. I will baste and quilt it next week. It is just a lap size quilt. I really have a hard time letting go without finishing things. I am going to give it away though when it is finished. Thanks again for the support.

You might not like it unfinished but I'm betting when it is completed it will have grown on you. And won't you feel good getting a project completed and out of your sewing room! Our local quilt shop posted a note that you could bring in unwanted UFO's and trade them for someone else's - that might be quite the challenge!

I was a lucky lady this week. My Aunt had finished an Oriental Lantern wall hang some time ago. She did not like it at all and I loved it. She gave it to me and I have already decided how I'm going to finish it! Hope she likes what she sees when I'm done :)

If you think you won't enjoy working on a project then consider donating it to a quilting group/guild. Mine accept all sorts of tops, UFO's, and orphan blocks. Someone else can work on it and you can t hen have fun doing something else.

All of these famous people left work unfinished and no one denies their genius!
Beethoven
Shubert
Mozart
Bach
Dickens
Da Vinci
Chaucer
Jane Austen
Mark Twain

Sometimes, even though your quilt isn't finished, *you* are finished with your quilt.:)
