red fabric
Where are the best web sites to purchase fat quarters. I am looking for prints in red/gra/black for a guy (adult) that is not kiddy or floral or feminine. The blacks and grays are pretty easy but the red has been impossible to find. I sure could use some advice.

fabric.com has a wide selection of reds,
do you want batik's ? shops that carry a large selection of batiks are- blue bamboo; batiks plus; batiks ect; there are lots more those are just the first one's on the top of my head. fabric.com has great prices & free shipping at $35 so i generally start there when looking for anything in particular. if you simply put 'red quilting fabrics' in your search you will find thousands! oh gosh- i just re-read your post & see you wanted fq's----that i don't know-- i never spend my $$ on fq's unless its a fabric i kind of like but really don't think i have any use for. i don't know if you can get much of a selection of reds in fq's only- you may have more luck going for 1/2 yards (then you have 2 fq's of each one) but you will have more to choose from |
Try Connecting Threads. I just got a real nice burgundy shirting/stripe. They also have some nice red tonals with more of a geometric pattern, rather than floral. I also know they have a nice selection of stars and dots, which might incorporate nicely into your masculine quilt. Good luck.

Just to mention that you can look for just reds at Connecting Threads, look to left of the page, click on fabric and then search by color. That might help.
I know red can be a challenge, some are blue red some are orange red and a whole bunch in-between. Only you know exactly what you are looking for. |
I used red/black/white for a 'guy quilt' I made a couple of years ago and I know I got the red bandana fabric and the red 'flame' fabric at Wal-Mart. Think I may have also gotten the red/white gingham/homespun type plaid there too. Whether they have any of those now, I couldn't tell you.
I've seen some nice reds at various times at Joann's and at Hancock Fabrics. Since my family is mostly guys (five sons) I don't do a lot of girly stuff. LOL! |
If you put this "wish" in the "in search of" section - some members may be able to help you out.

The web site www.thousandsofbolts also lets you search by color.
