reliable velocity iron question
 

Does anyone have any input about these irons. They are expensive so I am wondering if they are really worth the money. I like that you can bypass the auto shutoff and they say no leaking or spitting so I can't decide whether or not to buy one. Any guidance would be appreciated. Thanks. Jennifer

I can't help with that brand iron but for Christmas I got a Panasonic cordless iron and love it!! I used my backup the other day because it was handy and quickly got annoyed with the cord! I have no issues with spitting or leaking. I found it on amazon for cheaper then listed here.

I just got the Velocity V100 last month and I LOVE LOVE LOVE it.

Got mine as a mfg. refurbished on ebay.

The V100 is digital which is WHY I purchased it I only like digital irons now.

My iron gets used for fusible web. No matter how careful, that stuff multiplies in the strangest places. With friends using it, it really gets dirty. How easy is this iron to clean? How long does it last? We all have different priorities.

I love love my velocity 100. Got it about a year ago. Best one I ever had. Doesn't spit or leak & is heavy like I like. You won't be sorry with this one.

Fairly easy to clean the sole plate. I use Rowenta's cleaner. Haven't yet figured out how to get into smaller areas.
Love the iron. Doesn't spit, puts out a lot of steam. To keep the sole plate clean, I bought a teflon cover that is held over the sole plate by springs. That puts paid to any mess.

I have one and love it. Good adjustable steam, weight, nice point for getting those narrow seams to lie flat.

I have had to send mine in twice for repair ( to Canada $ postage) they said each time it had blown the fuse. I think I figured out what caused that to happen - I think. I have it plugged into a power strip and I used that to turn it off and on. Now I make sure I turn the iron off before I push the button on the strip. Hasnt happened again. I think the surge of turning it on with the strip caused the fuse to blow. It is very powerful electrically. I have to be careful what else I have plugged in in the sewing room. It also puts out a lot of heat. It could almost pass as a space heater! I cant use it in the summer. Its my winter iron! Works great. Because of the incredible steam, it has to be refilled often.

I have a beautiful Rowenta.... aaaahhhh what a pleasure to use. I must really love it I've been pressing all scraps today. It makes it so much easier to see what I have.

I haven't had mine a full month yet only used it a few times.

But I totally LOVE the "generator" for the steaming. Plus the
1800w it has.

Haven't gotten the sole plate messy yet so I can't answer that
question.
