Today I met Mary Koval a reproduction fabric designer. She was at the small quilt shop in Bedford with her fabrics and some of her repro quilts and was doing a book signing. She only lives about 15 mins from me. I know how much some of you love the repro's so I thought you might be interested. I bought 4 fq's, one of which is a repro of a 1830 pring and three of which are 1870's. I'll have to post some pics when I can.

She was explaining to me the technique of designing the repro and how she comes across the original patterned fabrics. It was very interesting. (At least to me. Doug ended up taking Laken back to the car because I was taking so long.)

She also sells antique quilts and fabric. Here's her website in case you are interested.

Here they are. There were so many to choose from but for some reason I was being drawn to blues today. I really wanted them all but "someone" was looking over my shoulder.

That blue fabric is stunning!! All of the fabrics are gorgeous! I think I'm in love with the 1854 Burgoyne Surrounded quilt she has in her quilt gallery. I would love to find a pattern for that quilt. I wonder if it's in her Blue & White book? Thanks for the post!

Quilters cache has that pattern for Burgoyne Surrounded

bearpaw 09-08-2008 01:50 PM

Thanks Melissa! Did you see that block? 289 pieces   !! After I looked at the block on Quilters Cache, I thought there had to be an easier way so I searched a little more. Eleanor Burns has a pattern for it where she breaks it down into smaller blocks. Looks a lot easier EB's way!

mgshaw 09-08-2008 01:57 PM

Vicki, I didnt look at how many pieces!!! Good Grief!!! I havent seen Eleanor's, I will check it out. It sure is a pretty quilt, isnt it?

bearpaw 09-08-2008 05:40 PM

Yes, it is pretty. I think that's joined my list of to do's.
