I like to use ric rac on Grandma fan blocks. I also use it alot to decorate crayon fabric rolls, it can make a really nice embelishment. I do know what you mean about reminding you of clown customes my Mom sewned beautiful ones for me & my sibling and all the ruffled cuffs & collors were edged in ric rac. It comes in beautiful colors and different widths now which makes it great to use. Try it again you may like it! LOL

I work with a quilt ministry to make baby quilts and one of the members brought in a huge ziploc bag filled with rickrack, all colors all widths. I had purchased a couple yards of a cotton fabric with a very busy row pattern. I sandwiched a yard of the fabric with backing and batting and I used yards and yards of the rickrack to machine quilt over the rows....instant baby quilts. I've been a fan of rickrack ever since.....and the 2 quilts I made barely made a dent in the bag of rickrack....I see a lot of them in my future.

Nothing like rick rack to add that "made by loving hands at home" touch to your home-sewn clothes!!

I love rick rack and especially like to take two pieces in different colors (all cotton rick rack works best) and wrap it together. It makes a wonderful trim for bags, totes, pillows, etc. I learned this technique in my local quilt shop class and used on the quilt we are learning to make.

Nope, not a big fan of it either. I do use it occasionally tho.

I love rick rack used in the appropriate setting....you can have too much of a good thing haha. I love it because it reminds of a lot of retro stuff and I'm totally into retro :)

I have seen vintage linens finished with white Rick Rack and crochet to make pretty edges. Rick Rack on Seminole piecework looks right in place. Rick Rack insertion works.

It does have a nostalgic feel and I love it on old aprons, curtains and children's and summer clothing.

A pretty use for Rick Rack is to insert in the edges of quilted projects, like prairie points. I think it would be a very effective finish for table mats and toppers, especially with curved edges. I like the large and the tiny versions best. I think showing only half the Rick Rack takes the 'curse' away a bit.

Some crafters are making very sophisticated, yet cute, flowers
from gathered Rick Rack. It's hard to update something with such a nostalgic tradition, isn't it, but nostalgia buffs enjoy it--especially the young.

I've always loved Ric-Rac! Especially cotton which is harder to find than the polyester.
