I LOVE LOVE LOVE the Dresden plate patterns! I watched Sewing With Nancy series on it and was hooked. I just finished making a few mug rugs in the dresden pattern and loved them.
I know I can find the pointed plate template.. however I also would love to make the rounded version. The Easy Dresden by Darlene Zimmerman seems to be the favorite. :?: I have done extensive searching online and come up empty on the rounded templates, they all seem to be no longer available. Anyone know why?? Dresden seems so popular. I do know I can find the trace type of template but was hoping to find a template to use with my rotary cutter. Any enlightenment would be much appreciated. Thank you sew much! :) |
Maybe use the pointed template and leave the point uncut, then use a small plate or cup to cut around for the curve?

I have quite a few of the round ones. PM me your address and I'll cut some out of template plastic for you. I made most of them on my own with a compass. :)
It's not the acrylic plastic, but the cheaper kind. And to be quite honest, the curves can be a pain in the backside to cut with a rotary cutter unless you're using a super small blade. I prefer to cut them with scissors. |

This site has a template for rounded dresden's. |
I bought one last year, it's by Marti Mitchel.

I actually have a plastic template of a round dresden. I was hoping for a heavier 1 out of the thicker plastic template used with rotary cutters. Thank you for the offer.

Thank you for the tip about Marti Mitchell. I actually just found the template on her website a few moments ago! Thank you for all of your responses.

Also some of the cutting mats have the outlines for rounded dresden plates printed on them. They are the blue mats...don't know the name. I am at work and can't look! :-)
