Satin quilts
I just got my copy of Beautiful Embroidered Quilts in the mail today. This book has some outstanding quilts in it and one of them is a pale, pale green satin quilt. IT is a crib size of 36" x 43 1/2". It has a top border, a bottom border and a center section. Does anyone else have this book? Has anyone made this quilt? I think this is perhaps the most beautiful crib quilt I have every seen. It truly looks like it belongs in a museum and that the original perhaps was used for one Queen Victoria's children. I don't know how to scan a picture or I would share this with you. It is so dainty and feminine. I'm hoping someone else has the book and can share the picture with the rest of you.

just make sure to purchase 100% poly satin....it has the same body, sheen and washes beautifully while old fashioned satin can 'break' where folded and will look terrible after washing... i have made wedding gowns from poly satin that can and have been thrown in the washer and dryer... and look wonderful.... it's all in the fabric content...

Hadn't thought of a quilt in satin - but it would be really pretty and do some same color embroidery. Another item for my list of really want to do this.

I hope it works for you! I find it difficult to sew with any type of satin! I made a Snow White costume for a friends daughter and swore I would never sew with it again!. I recently backed a quilt with some flannel backed satin and ended up taking it off because I just didn't like the looks of it. I think the satin quilts are beautiful but I just don't like to work with the fabric!

I made some very fancy satin pajamas and had no trouble at all. I did them with my serger and will use my serger for the seams on this quilt. It only has three pieces on the front. Only the center piece is quilted and only the top piece is embroidered. Because it is satin the seam allowances given are 5/8" but I'm thinking serging will do better. Where the top and bottom border attach to the center piece (after it is already quilted) the edge that is attached is scalloped in 2" scallops. That will have to be done by straight stitching. The lining is birthed. It is also pale green satin.
