Looking to buy new scissors mainly for applique. What are the best?

I have a small pair of Gingher's with very sharp points . They are great for very fine trimming and clipping within the seam allowance. Without measuring them, they are probably 4-5". A little pricey for such small scissors but they stay sharp and well worth the investment.

I have those and also have the ones with the "fat lip" They are designed to trim very close to something and not catch the underneath when cutting. Like if you are trying to trim the "whiskers off the appliqued piece and you do not want to catch the background fabric and nick it, these scissors are great for that.

Yeap, the small sharp ones are excellent along with the "flat lip" they are applique scissors..and another note, a mustache trimer..they are excellent to trim off those loose threads that stick out no matter what. They do sell these at fabric stores or use your husbands old trimmer..buy him a new one!!

Yuppers! Same here, too. got another pair this past weekend with a 50% of coupon. I got the vinyl (black) handled ones because they are so much lighter than the metal handled ones. I also have the grown up size with the same handle for a while now and L O V E them!

For trimming and clipping, I have a pair of Gingher serrated scissors. One of the blades has little "teeth". This is supposed to (1) help keep the fabric from slipping and (2) help keep fabric from ravelling (the same principal as using pinking shears).
