I'm about to embark on my first adventure in trapunto, and am wondering if anyone has recommendations for types of scissors that work particularly well for trimming the batting around the trapunto???

Thanks!
Wendy

Karen McTavish recommends an assortment of embroidery scissors. The reason being they have wickedly sharp points and the smaller blade size can better allow you to get into the nooks and crannies and small notches trapunto designs often entail.

I just purchased some at this spring's MQX show that have oversize handles but small blade (approximately 3", may be less), and a very sharp point. Sorry, I don't remember the manufacturer but when I stopped at the vendor booth and asked for the best scissors for trapunto that is what they sold me. I haven't had the opportunity to use them yet.

I haven't used them yet, but I saw Fiskar's blunt school scissors recommended several times, so that's what I bought.

They make special applique scissors, but I've never tried those, either.

A year later, I'm still in the "thinking about it" stage. I'm glad you are forging ahead. :D

I has used kids scissors, the dull rounded point means i'm not going to poke through and cut the top fabric.

I've got a little pair of (4 1/2" )very sharp with nice points scissors with big handles, I don't know the name of them, I also use (very carefully) a small seam ripper.
