Ive been googling for what seems like hours  but cant seem to find anything, does any one know where I can find some scottish themed kits or patterns?

Being in the UK everything seems very limited unless Im just not looking hard enough :D

Thank you for that, the first link is exactly the thing I had in my mind, and the fact its taken from a cathedral floor in Inverness makes it more special as two of my daughters were born there!!

I expect it will be a while before Im anywhere near ready to tackle anything like this but knowing that if I percervere one day I may be able to :-D

I would love the name of the celtic book, thank you

What would "scottish themed" be?

The first thing that crossed my mind were the tartans/plaids - maybe something using them?

But then the second thing that crossed my mind was that each of those patterns represented a certain clan -

Do each of the clans have a coat of arms?

Are the certain flowers/plants that are regional?

I know some cultures have dragons, or certain flowers

When I think Irish, I think of shamrocks and leprechauns - is there a Scottish equivalent?

The book is "Celtic Peiced Illusions by Karen Combs". I haven't made anything out of it yet, but my son wants me to. Once you see what she does, it doesn't look to hard. I think we bought it through Amazon. Have fun!

Purely Patchwork has a couple of Scottish themed fabrics that you could maybe work into another pattern you might have.

I have that book too. I haven't tried any of the patterns yet, but my husband is looking for me to complete one of those quilts as well.

Also if you're looking for appliqué shapes like a piper or highland cattle, try googling on free coloring pages, there's quite a few & can be adapted to appliqué easily. Have fun! Here's a few to start you off. http://www.coloring.ws/scotland.htm
