I haven't seen this exact question posted, so... In recent on-line shopping, I found a couple of sites selling Scrubs fabric. It's 100% cotton, many in great vibrant prints. Is there any reason why I can't use this in a quilt? The thing that really caught my attention is that the fabric is between 54 and 64 inches wide. For smaller quilts and throws, this would be great backing.

If it's 100% cotton, I don't see why you couldn't use it. I'd test for bleeding first though.

I would use it. I know I saw a post where someone did use scrubs for a quilt and it turned out very nicely. I will check and see if I can find it. Would you mind sharing where you found the scrub fabric? I would love to make my DD some scrubs for work.

Scrubs fabric is VERY durable!! I'd go for it!!!

Interesting question...I have a fabric website and have some scrubs available. They are usually peppered with polyester, so they require no ironing, which is right up my alley and probably for healthcare workers' uniforms. They are durable and wide. I've only made two quilts so far- no, only finished one-in my avatar. I found batiks giving no play or stretch, so perhaps scrubs would do the same...be a little stronger! Very good question for sure!

No, there is no reason not to use thewider fabric for quilts.

I found a Walmart clearance sale for pre packaged scrubs material w/pattern included for @4.00 each. Bought a bunch of them in several colors because there is (I think) 2 or2 1/2 yds in each pak and that made the fabric very cheap. Haven't used it yet.

You can use it. It is a little thicker than regular quilting cotton, so it may not be something to use if you are hand quilting. Also, ask if it has a coating on it. Like sheets, they may be 100% cotton, but the coating makes them not show the quilting so well.

I love scrub fabric! I think it would be perfect for a quilt or a quilt back :thumbup:
