Seeking pattern for solid-ring double wedding ring quilt
 

Would very much like to find the pattern for this quilt:

Quiltinggrannie did the long arm quilting on it (for a client) and doesn't know the pattern for the piecing. Specifically, I'm seeking a double wedding ring quilt pattern that has these solid (instead of pieced) rings. Can anyone help me out?

Looks like mine. You can see it in my album. I got the pattern from Egg Money Quilts book. It has a template. You don't need to piece multiple colors. You can do all one color if you want.

"Rings that Bind" book by Cheryl Phillips and Linda Pysto comes with an acrylic template that enables you to cut solid rings or pieced ones.

I've never seen one made with a solid ring but I bet it's beautiful.

Do you need a detailed pattern, or would just the templates help you?

This is piecing using square blocks, but you could adjust it if you wanted to piece using the melons.

Dragonmine and VirtualBernie, thanks for the links to the other two books; went ahead and purchased the Egg Money Quilts one (used). The other is very expensive-- maybe because of the acrylic templates?

A dear friend-- almost like an adopted son, really-- is getting married, and I want to make one for him. The solid-arc version feels a bit more contemporary. And I think I might use batiks.

John Flynn sells heavy acrylic templates for this quilt, along with his directions for piecing the rings/arcs. The template could be used without piecing the rings/arcs. His directions call for piecing the rings/arcs as strip sets, then increasing one end of the seam, then cutting the rings/arcs with the template.

There's also a Go Template for this both for piecing and for solid arcs.

There are several patterns and templates available to make the Wedding Ring Quilts using the solid arc. Depending on which one of these below that are used, there are other quilt patterns that could be made also.

Marti's set has pieces to make several other patterns as well as the Double Wedding Ring.

I have the Omnigrid templates by Sharlene Jorgenson that I purchased at Hancock Fabrics. This and Marti's set appears to be essentially the same. There are several different patterns that can be made with these templates. This package comes with the thick plastic templates and also printed ones in the back of the instruction book. These are available online also.

I also have the Rings That Bind book with templates, thanks to a wonderful member here on the board. There are no extra templates to make other quilt patterns, but I am sure it wouldn't be difficult to use them in other ways.

One of my favorite quilting books is the Egg Money Quilts book. Came with the Double Wedding Ring cardboard templates and other templates to make her patterns throughout the book. IMHO, this is a good book for beginners to learn quilting techniques.

Thanks for the additional resources. My Egg Money Quilts book arrived last week and I've been pouring through it. Burns' approach to wedding ring quilts is a bit odd, and I'm not sure I'd enjoy doing it.

She has you piece the arcs first, then sew the curved edges onto non-woven fusible interfacing, leaving the ends open.

THEN she has you turn these arcs inside out! Flatten 'em good, then machine (or hand) applique them onto the background fabric. Not exactly what I was looking for, but might be fun experimenting. She uses this technique alot-- sewing onto fusible interfacing then turning pieced sections inside out, then appliqueing.

I'll look into Hancocks or JoAnns for templates. The idea of paying $38 for pieces of plastic is difficult for me to swallow.

OR, I can try MTS's approach
