Several people have mentioned that they save the selvages (1 inch or more)
The ones with the circles are pretty - Does anyone save the "boring/ugly/plain" selvages? |
Yes. They make really good tomato ties in my garden.

I keep all the selvages off of my polar fleece fabrics to use for tying things up....extension cords, bundles of sticks, books...you name it, I've used those polar selvages!!
|
i save them for any body that wants them
|
I save any kind, but they are probably not an inch. I like to make sure I get all I can from my purchase. Are you wanting them?

I made a block for the Funky Neighborhood swap from the printed selvages but since the blocks are supposed to be really wonky it was so difficult I only made one and decided to keep it for myself. However, I'm saving my selvages to make a Rocky Road to Kansas quilt with them. If you do a search on here and type in selvages it will come up with all kinds of projects that people have used them for.

I have seen projects where they used the plain in with the printed ones.

I"ve been giving them away to board members who asked - probably a whole bin full by now. Didn't have any interest. Well, a couple of days ago a friend showed me a book with selvage projects. There is a fantastic star quilt made using lights and darks. . .
Help, stop me! if you are my friends, please just tell me NO. I don't need another project. I don't need another project. I have plenty. Please tell me the same thing. I don't need another project. . . . . |
I tend to save all of them if possible. Have not figured out what to do with them yet. Lots of great ideas here, tho.
