I am getting back into quilting after many years of not doing any. Do sergers have much benefit in quilting?
|
Some quilters use them but I don't. As you dive into your projects you will see if there are any steps you want to serge. Most of all enjoy quilt making!:)

I love using my serger when sewing on binding.

I have a serger and never use it for quilting. I know you can, but why re-invent the wheel if what works....works.

I have never used my serger for quilting but I know someone who uses it in piecing on some projects.

I've head sergers are more tempermental (says a friend)

Thank you each and all for your replies. I agree, why reinvent the wheel if it already works. When I used to quilt it was ALL by hand anyway. I am hoping to at least try some piecing on the machine this time around.

I use mine to sew blocks together for tops. I also serg around the edges of the quilt before I bind it. I have never birthed a quilt but am thinking my serger would work great to do that.
