well with the storm coming, I will stop and get my milk and eggs today and this weekend it will be sewing, baking and digging out the attic stuff... i can walk around in my attic, so i just stay up there and play! I should just make it my sewing room and be done with it..

That is exactly what I was thinking!! Your own little hide-a-way!!

QuiltE 08-26-2011 06:01 AM

Perfect thought!! Out of sight, out of mind!!!

When you aren't sewing, the evidence doesn't disturb the rest of the family life and you can just leave it as is, til you return.

When you are there, maybe everyone will forget about you and give you lots of peace and quiet to piece away!! :)

Just be sure to insulate well, and install a/c and good heating or you'll be hot as H E doublle hockey sticks in the summer and the opposite in the winter! :)

And bonus ..... you can have all the sewing machines for your nieces sitting in a row, waiting each of their sewing visits!

My little sewing room means so much to me...it's my own space. Even though DH occasionally sews in there too, it's still "MY" space. When he's watching something on TV I don't care for, I go in and watch TV and find some project to work on. If I'm working on a specific project, the TV just becomes my background noise.

Same here. My son gets annoyed when I ask him what happened during a program. He snaps back, weren't you watching? Of course not! I'm sewing!

Stay safe! DD is just outside of Philadelphia; I'm a little worried about her, but nothing to do but wait and see. Either way, it looks like it'll be a good weekend for the folks in eastern PAto stay inside and sew!

Well, enjoy your sewing weekend. We're supposed to have beautiful weather all weekend but I'm still planning to be in the sewing room tomorrow. Stay safe.

ah, the joy of quilting all weekend! I would have to go on a retreat to do that! Or so it seems!

before I can sew on Saturday, we have corn to get in the freezer before the power may go out! Oh my. That doesn't sound good at all. Dh did get a lot of ice for the freezer too.

I'm not in storm territory but hopefully will end up sewing all weekend yesterday. Went out to dinner on a whim and passed the LQS with a huge sign: 50% off EVERYTHING all day tomorrow!

sew, sew, route, sew some more... enjoy and stay safe with the storm... My son & DDIL are on the Coast in NC ~ worrying about them because the Marine Base isn't doing evac. :(

I've gone to the store, and you would have thought they were giving away milk, water and bread. The place was mobbed, and I'm in upstate NY, about 2-1/2 hours north of NYC. They're saying that this is going to be a "storm for the textbooks," so this will be a good weekend to stay in and sew ... as long as we have power! :-)

I was, many decades ago, planning to make my sewing room in the attic. Unfortunately way too hot in summer and way too cold in winter - my mechanical machine (at the time) wouldn't even run in winter. So, the spare room is now my sewing room. We're waiting for the storm. I have plenty of machine sewing to do as long as we have power and plenty of hand quilting to do if we don't!

I will be quilting a very large Lover's Knot quilt this weekend while doing laundry and a little housecleaning. We are going to have wonderful weather, although we could use some rain.

How funny is that!? So am I! I plan on getting the quilt loaded on the frame tomorrow morning...doing large pebbling in the borders, so it will take a while I am afraid! How big is yours? Hopefully the electricity will not go out!!
