What size needle do you use when sewing with Batiks. I have been making Bow Tucks for Chritmas and useing a heavy needle to get through all the layers.Decided to try a batik one should i keep useing the heavy needle or swith?

I would use the heavier needle, generally they are a little thicker than typical cotton :D:D:D

needle with sharp point. I use regular size (80) or even a smaller 70. I am liking the top stitch needles as they have larger eye.

Personally, I see a right and wrong side on about 98%. It is really hard sometimes! To me, the color and pattern is "crisper" on one side and this is the one I choose. Hey, use what looks best to you 'cuz in the long run, don't think it will be noticed.

I can tell on some, not on others!

I'm with Theresa, look for the "criper" side. Thats what I do.I was checking out some printed fleece for my grand daughters quilt. I had a hard time trying to figure which is the front. Then I seen where it was crisper...clearer.

My LQS recommended Top Stitch 90/14 or the blue top when quilting batiks but I prefer the Top Stitch

Am working with blue & brown batiks today and am using a 70 needle. Seems to be working well.
