hi folks...

I came across this on another forum... is this a good price for this machine and accessories?
http://www.diaperswappers.com/forum/....php?t=1291884

and ... reusing/recycling batting/stuffing

sorry not good on knowing what the heck the stuff is called... stuffing I think.. anywho.. one of my thrift store finds was an old pillow, bought for the material, however it was stuffed with a batting/stuffing type stuff (not cotton fibers, the synthetic stuff)... I was wondering if there is a way to clean it/prep it for reuse, in stuffing small items, such as things to put on keyrings, or cat toys, etc.

Thanks for reading.

Might be a good price for the machine but you'll tire of only having a 4x4 area for embroidery. I saw one for $265 and included the software so I don't know how much more they want for that. You'll need that also.

Great price IF it works and keep in mind I think that one still needs the Brother PED reader to move files to the machine - not a USB so that can be costly

I see two things bad about it.#1 only embroiderer 4x4 hoop and it does need a Brother PED those are about two hundred dollars.

oh wow, yeah that would be doubling the price... eeek

Don't know about the machine, but the stuffing can be reused. I do it all the time. You can put it in a pillow case and pin or baste the opening and wash it in your machine. If it is clumpy you can cut it up in small pieces. Most of my sofa pillows have used stuffing in them.

it is clumpy... will try the putting it in a pillow case to wash it. (should have left it in the pillow and washed it then took it apart LOL)

Thanks for the info folks, appreciate it!

Ad says hoop is cracked "but doesn't affect the embroidery"..don't understand that. Hoops have everything to do with how well the fabric is held. Any little thing with the hoop can affect the stitchout. Also the 4x4 hoop is usually around $30.00. You can pick up PED BASIC for around $150.00 and it should come with a blank card. If not, that card alone is $100.00.

You can buy a good refurbished machine still under warranty for around $400. Sometimes, PED Basic will come with it as an added feature but you know definitely you will need the PED. And if you can swing the cost of a 5x7 embr area, those machines usually come with a USB cord and the memory card slot, so you can also download directly from your computer. I have both kind of machines and I normally use my 5x7 machine the most.
