I was thinking of buying one of those sewing tables where you can put your machine up or down. DOes anyone have any comments of these.

I LOVE having my machine sit flush with the table top, so would highly recommend such a table. As for putting the machine away or having up, I don't have enough exposure to those types of tables to know if they're reliable.

Good luck!

I have a table with an "elevator" for the machine. I absolutely love it! Don't know why I waited so long to get it. In fact, I bought a second table just like the first one for my second machine.
I find that I can sew longer with the machine set down so it's level with the table top. It's easy to put away when company comes. I have found no down side at all! I give it a ***** (5 star) rating!

I want one like that. They seem like they would make free motion quilting much easier.

Absolutely! In fact, I would wheel my sewing machine table into the dining room, push the table right up to the dining table and then did my FMQuilting. The dining table helped to catch the extra weight. (I also had a card table beside me. I was wedged in!) It took some climbing to get in there but it worked!

It is a must have for me. It makes a huge difference when free motion or for large quilts. Mine has a large surface area also and that is wonderful for holding up your quilt.

I have one that I just love. I have a panel that comes up for a really large surface. I have 4 drawers and have 3 possitions for the sewing machine.
Mine was made by (for) the local shop here but there are many different kinds out there. They make for much more comfortable sewing!!!

I have a Horn quilt table which can resess my machine so that it is flush with the surface. This eliminates alot of "drag" when machine quilting. This table also was designed so there is more depth ... another good feature when machine quilting large quilts. I absolutely love my table. Pricey, but worth every cent.

Definitely get one if you can. It makes a huge difference to have your sewing level with the needle. If space and budget allows, try to get one with a drop leaf extension on the rear. This is perfect for rotary cutting and also helps with supporting the weight of the quilt when machine quilting. You won't regret it!
