There was a recent post of a quilt where the member said they used Electric Quilt in developing their design. I was curious if we could successfully share these projects - and yes! She emailed me the project file, I opened it without any problem.

I'm adding this post the the EQ virtual section too - hopefully there will be lots of project sharing :)

Well, apparently I have not figured out how to add a thread to a virtual topic :(

When I click on 'add to topic list', it does bring up a list of topics, but 'Electric Quilt' isn't one of them. Tried it with both "EQ" and "Electric Quilt" in the title and text.

What did I miss?

In case you weren't aware of it, the EQ holds monthly challenges in ClubEQ. Barb Vlack posts an idea, and participants send in their completed quilt projects (files). They go back more than 10 years.

Just click on any year/month on the right hand side.

Also, here's a link to the Quilt Gallery:

It's an education just browsing through all the submissions.

I sadly suffered a catastrophic hard drive failure last September (I'm still not over it:cry: ) and lost some really complex quilt designs I had planned on making one day. Totally my fault for not backing up the drive in over, oh, four years. What!?! I got a little sidetracked.

the EQ Topic List is managed by goldendog55. in order to have a topic added to the list please send a pm either to her or to a moderator.

i've already added this one to the list, so the above information is for your future reference. :-)

Thank you Patrice!

Hi! Linda, I've written to moderators, goldendog and Admin asking for a seperate thread for EQ users. I've posted requested for help with my own software and the messages disappear further and further back into the log of other posts that only one other person ever saw the post and could give any help. I believe the right place of something specific like EQ questions and answers, is a seperate thread. About two weeks ago, I tried starting a new topic with EQ but it never was moved to this area and stayed in the Main topic list till it finally got so far back the list that no one saw the post.
I've only gotten one response back from Admin, saying they would it give some thought to having a seperate thread but it was back Jan 15 and other than that no one else has gotten in touch with me. I really don't know what else can be done.
If you have any suggestions, I'd love hearing from you. Chris

MTS, I've also found the EQ site to be amazingly helpful. The mysteries (currently listed under 'Lessons') are wonderful - step by step showing different features of the software.

Hi Chris,

The virtual sections seem to be pretty good middle ground - if the board had 'real' sections for all the topics we want to wander into, that would get challenging to find your way through ... anyone can 'subscribe' to the virtual sections, so you get notification when there is a new message.

I actually have versions 5, 6 and 7 on my computer - the newer installations don't over-write the existing. So there are likely quite a few others like me :)

Hi! Linda, Thanks so much for the info. Chris

Hi! Linda, Sorry for the short note on Sat, I'm getting over the flu and it had gotten the best of me.
I know the other forums doyoueq and EQclub are great but they are so focused on the newer versions that there is no discussion about EQ5. Penny, on doyoueq, has been great to answer questions for me but there is no one else posting anything about 5.
I'm not thoroughly convinced that upgrading is in my best interest. Of all the new features that 6&7 offer, I think the one that I would enjoy most is having the ability to import embroidery designs into the quilt design; otherwise from what I've read about the newer versions that take quilting to a level that I'm not sure I would ever ready to do. I'm still a beginner and still about basic quilting!
I suppose I hoping to find someplace where EQ5 was still used by some and where I could still learn some things about it through their experiences . And maybe on occasion, I might be able to help someone who has lost interest in the software, to give it another try.
Hope the winter hasn't been too bad in your part of Canada? We've had one of the coldest in a very long time, even for Alabama! Take care, Chris
