What is a Siggie Swap????

a 'siggie swap' is a swap of "signature blocks"---participants make a specific number of signature blocks- then they are exchanged- so you receive (a pre-determined) number of signature blocks from participants from all over the country (sometimes world) to make into your own signature quilt

Are they a specific size block ckcowl? Let's say you make 12...I'm assuming if you send 12 you get 12????.... how do you end up with enough to make a quilt? I'm, also, assuming (I know...that's bad:o) that they go to a "leader" who separates them out and that you get 12 from 12 different people....right? Are there specific colors or anything goes? Since they may (or... may not:eek: (????) ) be divided up and sent to 12, etc. different participants can you make 12 of the same block? And, by the way, thanks for your quick response!!! That was very kind.

My experience with swaps has been like you describe. Generally you sign up, we had to commit to 6 blocks, they all got sent to the organizer. She then mixed all the blocks together and sent out the blocks. When we sent them to her we had to include a large envelope and postage so she could send them back to us. I'm sorry to say I was not happy with my blocks. Some of them were not square, some were smaller than the specified size, points and seams didn't match up. After I cut them all to the same size, riped out and restitched a few I was able to make something with them. Another thing to consider is color and prints. Some swaps specify what to use and some specify no batiks.
