My DH and I have torn apart the house looking for my quilt "Tumbling Tabbies". I completed it in August and had it in the Bennington Quiltfest in September. We picked up the quilt and brought it home, never even took it out of the plastic bag we had for transport. I was planning on giving it to my mom for Christmas. I now can not find the quilt anywhere! My DH and I have seached everywhere, attic, closets, under beds. I tore my sewing room apart. It is nowhere to be found. I thought I remembered seeing the bag in our upstairs hallway but DH doesn't remember and that hallway has nothing in it now. I don't remember taking it anywhere for any show and tell. I just have no idea where this quilt is and I am heartsick over it. :-(

I am so sorry. Hopefully you will find it.

These "lost" treasures often show up in the unlikeliest places! How large was it and did you put it away with something else?
|
Oh, I just know it will turn up! The package was probably picked up and moved to a better spot and the picker upper was thinking of something else and the memory slipped away. That happens to me all the time. When it does show up the picker upper will say now I remember! I hope you find it before Christmas but it can be a Birthday present later!
|
I'm so sorry you lost your quilt--but you'll find it!! :D :D
|
what kind of plastic bag did you have it in?
sure hope it shows up for you - - have you donated anything to any charities? I'm always terrified to put a quilt into a trash bag - |
Have you checked the trunk of your cars? Sometimes things stay in there a long time for me.
I prefer to use those gigantic ziploc bags or someother clear bag. Garbage bags are not for quilts. GOod luck! |
I'm so sorry, I hope you find it soon.

You know what will happen don't you? You will most likely stumble upon it a week after Christmas. |
I FOUND IT!!! It was driving me crazy, I just kept searching and searching. DH and I both remembered we had been on our motorcycles the day we picked it up from the quilt show. He said I had crammed it in my saddlebag but I kept thinking the quilt was too big. What I had totally forgotten is I had put the quilt in my T-bag which is a special type of luggage bag for motorcycles. I had walked by that damn T-bag so many times, which was in my sewing room, which doubles as my guest bedroom, which my brother uses when he comes so all his motorcycle crap, including HIS T-bag was piled up I just kept assuming it was his T-Bag. I just went up there again and noticed his T-Bag in the corner and I thought, if that's his T-bag, this must be mine and why does it seem it is stuffed full of something? So I unzipped it and there was the quilt. Jumping for joy and HUGE sighs of relief.

Halleluah. I am so glad. I do things like that all the time. LOL

WONDERFUL News! :D So very happy you found it. I sometimes find that if I STOP looking for something IT comes out of hiding and allows me to "find it" :D
|
That is great news!!!!
Now we just need you to post a picture of the quilt so we can ooh and aah over it before you send it to your mother. ;) |
Yayyyyyyyyyyyy.......................Merry christmas.

Here are pics of it. One was taken at the show. The others I posted before. It is a full size bed quilt and all hand quilted. You can understand why I was so frantic.

I love Happy Endings!!!! :D :D :D

Oh my goodness, that's beautiful! I don't remember if I saw pics of it when you posted them before or not; I would have been relatively new. You put a tremendous amount of work into it; no wonder you were frantic. Has your mom seen it yet? Does she know she's getting it for Christmas? She will love and cherish it, I'm sure!
(I can't remember the name of a popular quilter and teacher I read about who had three quilts stolen from an airport. One was a gorgeous Trip Around the World quilt made with all one-inch sized squares. Pics of it are in some of her books. It was a college graduation present for the quilter's daughter. Sickening.) |
I remember the cats! I am sew glad you found it! You can breathe now.
|
Look in the trunk of your car
|

YIPPEE ! Jumping up and down! What a relief!

So glad that you found it!!! Beautiful quilt!!!

"Nothing is lost in the Divine Mind". Someone told me that once. You may have forgotten but HE knows where it is. We do so many things automatically because we are so busy and so preoccupied. Next time something hides from you, turn it over to Him and it will turn up, just like this quilt.
|
So glad you found it!!
|
You had me holding my breath. I scrolled down looking for your avatar because I was hoping you would find it. Happy ending!
I couldn't tell from the pic - what fabric did you use for the third side of the block. It looks patterned. Does it have cats in it as well? Could you post a closeup? I love how you hand quilted around the cat shapes in the border. Great idea! |
I'm so glad you found your quilt!!!! It's just gorgeous and you have put so much work into it! I could be your Mom for Christmas 8-) :D
|
Glad you found it. Now we can all breathe a little easier.
Reminds me of the time we went on this vacation, left all my good jewelry with my DS, came back, got jewelry from her, but she had put it in small garbage bag with a few other goodies she gave us. Yep, you guessed it. DH thought it was trash even after I told him it was not, and he threw it away. To this day, 30 years later, he will not admit it. |
Great news, I am so glad you found it. Things like that drive me crazy til find them.

|
1. I am so happy that you found the quilt.
2. It is BEAUTIFUL! 3. I wish I could find a few things in my house. Darn place is not that big and stuff still gets lost. The bad thing, I remember thinking that wherever I put it was a PERFECTLY LOGICAL PLACE. (see my shaking head?) |
Glad you found the quilt. Those hand stitches are gorgeous.
