i live in arizona-big quilts of any design with batting is nearly useless here...but i love to piece quilt tops--but so many of the patterns could be made into small quilts--does someone else enjoy making the smaller version and could give me some of the do's & dont's.

Have you checked into the Dear Jane quilts?
You might really like them if you like to be busy! :P

Hi Faye! Just wondering...how small is small? Are you taking full sized blocks and just using fewer of them, or are you reducing the size of the blocks for miniature quilts? I've made a few small wallhangings with blocks that're 2 or 3 inches each. It's a challenge!

will try the dear jane site-thanks

i would prefer the blocks to complement the quilt size-about doll size when finished-makes neat table toppers & covers for living room furniture & has a look that a non-sewer could visualize as a big quilt.

Oh, I see what you mean now! That'd be fun to try blocks in 3 or 4 inch size. There's lots to get from the 'net, even.

My name is athensbabe and I live in Wisconsin. I am just learing how to make small quilts. But have you ever tried paper piecing? and have you ever tried
charm squares? They are pre cut material and that gives you a nice wall quilt.
Go to www.overrainbow.com. She has quite a variety and also has a pattern that uses charm squares.
Hope this helps you too.

Hi Leslie;
Yes I agree that 3inch or 4inch are real nice to use. Have you ever try a 5 inch square. These are called "Charm Squares." You can go to this site, www.
overrainbow.com.

By for now.

I live in Phx. and make only lap size quilts. I really love making sampler lap size quilts. I dont make very small size but with the Quilt Wizard computer program you can make any size you want. It only costs 29 dollars and it is worth the price.
