So here in the good old state of Minnesota they have what's called a Quilt Shop Hop each year. Last year was my first time going and I had a blast! Each quilt shop you visit gives you a 5x5'' square and a block design from a group of fabrics designed just for this occasion. There's also bolts available so you can buy to your hearts desire.
Last year my mom and I visited 13 shops in one day! (we got a very last minute start). But the end result was 10 free yards of black and white fabric :)

Well...this year online I found the fabrics for the 2011 shop hop and oh my gosh..I almost fell over. I loooooove wildlife fabrics..I'm sure not everyone does but I want to buy this kind of fabric constantly!! I'm an avid outdoorswomen and I am SO EXCITED to get these fabrics and make a quilt for me and my husband! I have to wait until July though b/c thats when they release it to all of us crazy fabric collectors :)

Local shop hops are soooooo much fun! There's one in the Tucson area every 18 months. Me and my quilting buddy go each time and we have a blast. It's grueling (we do the 10 shops in 2 days due to our work schedules), but well worth it! I can't imagine 13 shops in one day - you go girl!!
