I have a couple of patterns that I am buying the floss to make them. I can't find the dang stuff for less than seventy nine cents a skien! Then Hancock's has only the knock off stuff for something like 49 cents each. Boy! I sure miss having walmart prices on these! I guess I will have to wait for a sale on the dmc at joann's. The other stuff doesn't look as nice to me.

Just one of them is going to take 58 skiens by itself to make. Sheesh .. Is nothing cheap to make anymore?

Where else would you look for it?

Try here for thirty-seven cents a skein and 4.95 flat rate shipping. http://craftersmarket.net/dmcfloss.html

$5 off coupon available...not sure what their shipping prices are...

littlehud 06-15-2009 04:13 PM

I hadn't priced it lately. What a shock.

sew4fun 06-15-2009 04:14 PM

Joanns has it for 37 cents a skein. But I would wait until they have it 4/$1.

AC Moore, Michaels, Ben Franklin carry DMC. Not sure what they have in NV.

On-line, try 123stitch @ .44 ea., abcstitch @.47 ea. That's the common price around here. While you're at abcstitch take the tour...omg I'm glad I don't live near there!

Hobby Lobby has it for 35 cents a skein.

Blue Bell 06-15-2009 05:35 PM

Yikes! I guess I haven't done any counted cross stitch in a while, 12 years to be exact. I used to get it on sale for 10 cents a skein.

Shemjo 06-15-2009 05:46 PM

Watch out for it because it is not the same as it used to be. The wrappers have changed. :?

QuiltMania 06-15-2009 06:53 PM

Do you have a Michael's around you? They frequently have sales on DMC.

Maride 06-15-2009 07:31 PM

What are you getting ready to start? I am very curious. I love big cross stitch projects.

O my gosh girls! Ok ... those prices sound better! I will go and check out those sites when I finish posting to this thread. Thanks for looking around for me. I really appreciate it.

Maride, I bought the #414 "Merry Little Christmas" one chrissie showed her group was working on a couple weeks ago, a blackwork one called," Over the River and Through the Woods", and the basket one for fourth of july all from Crabapple Hill. I love thier patterns!

I get in a mood for embroidery and go with it for a stretch during the summer months. My gardening makes me so tired, that is all the energy I have to work on. LoL!

We have a Michael's, Ben Frankin's, Joann's, and Hancock Fabrics.

Threadart is a very good company to do business with. Have ordered several times from them. Last week I ordered on Sat & package came on Wed by regular mail but I am in Texas where Threadart is located. Don't know if that makes a difference, Very good prices.

Red, Ive never seen a pattern that would take that much thread! What is it?

Angie 06-17-2009 09:17 AM

I just bought some at JoAnn's for 37 cent a skien.

RedGarnet222 06-17-2009 06:50 PM

The crabapple hill site is here.... It 51" x 51" and the images are very large.

http://www.crabapplehillstudio.com/i...christmas.aspx

I am also embroidering the snowman image in the center like crissie's group did. Also I am making the Over the river one in the christmas patterns and making two fourth of july ones as gifts.

Like I said, I get on a roll doing these. LOL!

Bevanger 06-18-2009 07:24 AM

I get mine at Joanns for .39 or 5@$1 when on sale.

Boston1954 06-18-2009 08:01 AM

I stopped cross stitching when I took up quilting. I used to get them for 20 cents. Shocking how much it has gone up. If you find some colors hard to find, I might be able to help you out.

RedGarnet222 06-18-2009 09:09 AM

Thanks so much girls!

"Our" Hobby Lobby (30 mile round trip from here) has it for 3 for $1.00 not bad averages about 33 cents per skein. But with the price of gas, it's almost cheaper for me to order online I do believe LOL.
