I just posted a pic of the first one I have started. This one needs more. It looks a bit scant. I have at least 5 more sheets to decorate. Can't remember whether or not they specifically wanted cotton, but I can say that I wish mine were cotton/poly. These are tough to press.

I ended up buying sheets from Walmart, 60/40 blend, washed up fairly nice, will touch up with an iron....

I volunteered, and someone donted a coule of sheets.. ( thanks) but , I broke my sewing arm, so this has been put on hold until, i get cast off... sigh.....
If anyone else wants to help, but doesn't have time... I would be happy to accept donated sheets. I simply can not afford to purchase the sheets..... PM me if anyone needs my address to donate sheets.
Thanks

I can NOT believe more of you would not take the time and effort to make ONE shroud out of one ($5) sheet to cover a fallen hero of this country.....Simple enlarge a quilt pattern and put in center.... They are not hard, and take less than a day. will be mailing mine tomorrow, will post a pic latter today....

This came as a request from a nurse that works at a VA hospital in Virginia. They have an area where their most critial patients go to die. She was asking for a sheet (not white) to cover their bodies, after death and during the ride to the mortuary. Their motto is butterflies....She is requesting a twin size (flat). I was able to buy a nice medium blue (60-40 blend)twin flat at Walmart for $5.00 then took a simple patchwork ribbon design, enlarged it to about 24 x 36" (local Staples $3) and appliqued in the center....took me a day...have address for hospital I can PM to you. My goodness these soldiers have earned this final tribute at the end of their life. After the soldier reaches the mortuary the sheet will be removed and returned to the hospital to be laundered and reused again.

I plan to make at least two, but need to wait till I have the funds for the sheets----the severe winter cold BROKE our budget!
I am just about finished with the Homes for our Troops quilt tops.
