Spool thread winder

Does anyone recall the discussion sometime ago about a gadget used to wind thread from a cone onto empty spools? I have searched the Internet and keep getting bobbin winders. It was similar to the bobbin winder but was for threas spools. It came with 4 empty spools and you could by more empty spools.

Don't remember that discussion, but I don't remember a lot of things LOL! Why do you want to wind thread from a cone to an empty spool? Is it to use on your domestic machine? If so , there are ways to use a cone with your DM. I haven't used one yet, I'm still trying to get through all my spools LOL , I'm sure there are people hear that can tell you better than me. Good luck!

I use cones all the time. I have A FREE STANDING cone holder made out of metal.(the plastic one are not heavy enough). Some people use a heavy mug and put their cones in that. Just place it behind your machine and you don't need to rewind. I have thread rewound from cone to bobbins and just held the cone loosely in my hand with my fingers in the bottom and then threading the machine like I would wind a bobbin. See what works for you.

I have a metal free standing cone holder too. Once I put my cone thread on it, it works just like the spool on your sewing machine so you can wind your bobbin from it and also use it for your top thread when stitching. It works great!

I found this, it may help. It isn't a gadget but it is free. http://sewing.patternreview.com/review/review/1589

Yes..I believe you are asking about E-Z Winder at www.darrsewnotions.com It is located in Mobile, AL. I recently ordered the set that includes 4 lge spools, and I also got 4 extra spools. I wound them on an old Singer portable. Frankly, I did not find them easy to wind...it might have been because of my ''set-up'' with the large cone (it was very lge)...but now that I've wound, I am pleased. Primarily to use on my serger. There are good instructions.
