You can do a simple Nine-patch and Snowball block quilt and it works up pretty quickly.
Choose a football print for your Snowball block and then co-ordinating colors for the alternating Nine-patch blocks. I did this snuggler quilts for my uncle who loves birds. Birds Snowball and Nine-Patch quilt |
QuiltBea ... lovely Quilt!
What about instead of a square that becomes a snowball ... use a rectangle with the same technique and you'd have a football shape?? BCaplette ... did you try Google?? Often times we can find what we want there ... or as already suggested, use the search function here on the Board? Or perhaps use some graph paper and develop your own pattern? that can work pretty good! Maybe this will help http://www.lmgtfy.com/?q=football+quilt+patterns |
The only pattern I found for a block was this paper pieced one:
http://free-quilt-patterns.net/paper.../Football.html No pattern given on this one, but perhaps can be used as an idea to draft your own block. http://barbarabrackman.blogspot.com/...und-world.html On Google Images, I searched on football quilt. There may be some inspiration here: http://www.google.com/search?tbm=isc...&aql=&gs_sm=s& |
Thank you all :D

The second suggestion was PERFECT! I'm off to the book store  Thanks again

JuneC has a football print that would be perfect for a toddler. I almost got it for my 6 year old but thought it a little young.

How about quilting a football into any solid fabric on the quilt as well? I did a USC football quilt for a friend of my husbands. I not only quilted footballs ALL OVER IT (boy was I SICK of footballs!), but I quilted football words in the solid border (i.e. touchdown, punt, quarterback etc) Here is a picture of a quilted football. If you want you can PM me and I will draw one out for you.

Thank you, this is a great idea. I think I will use it if you don't mind. I am washing the fabric as I write this. I am so excited to get started. Thanks again.

I will. I am making my own block pattern and then quilting it around each football. It will have a star in the center with the Dallas Cowboys fabric and a border with footballs on a dark background. I will try to post it when it is finished as you all deserve to see what you have created. :-D Thanks again everyone, I truely couldn't have done it without you'll.

Well thanks to all of you I finished the "sports" quilt for my cousin's new baby boy. She wanted something that was "Dallas Cowboys" but not too adult. I came up with aa simple pattern useing juvenile football prints for one side and a "Licensed" print on the other. I quilted each block so on the plain side you can see the "footballs and stars" and I think it turned out quite cute. thanks again to all for the suggestions. Also I now have a pieced block pattern with directions for a football.
