Spray Adhesive Basting

Huge, huge thanks to those ladies who were talking about using spray adhesive basting and to the one who posted the link to the tutorial on how to layer the pieces with the baste. Oh my word - I tried it today and the clouds parted and the angels sang - talk about so, so much easier!!!!!!!! Layered beautifully, stayed together beautifully and I'm actually trying my first machine quilting (straight line stitch in the ditch, but still - BIG step for me!!)

Ladies - you are wonderful - thanks for all the help and fun that's here on this board. Wish I knew how to post pics - when this baby quilt is done, I'd like to try to show it off!!

to learn how to post pictures, visit the Help Center Forum. There are many helpful threads, but the ones with the sticky that appear at the beginning of the forum are the best.

Yup. Once I found spray basting, quilting became a whole lot easier! (Wait until you invest in a longarm. :) )

Next you will have to try using washable school glue to baste your quilts....no fumes, no overspray, no sticky needles....and sooo cheap!

Congrats! That is almost exactly how I started my machine quilting. A wonderful lady at church suggested the spray basting, and I haven't looked back!

I love the spray basting but I use a mask - even though I spray with windows open and the fan on - the mask is a big help.

how do you use the school glue baste...

I love spray basting too, but have a real problem with the fumes. I go out to our big airy barn to spray it. DH puts down a large piece of plastic that he keeps out in the barn just for my spray basting. That keeps the quilt clean and off the floor of the barn. I also wear a mask and DH turns on a big fan to get rid of the fumes after I am done spraying.
