Isnt Quilter's Dream poly? If it is I use basting spray all the time but I spray the fabric.

I have used cotton and poly batting when spray basting and they both worked fine.
Some people have no problems spray basting polyester batting; others do. I think the difference may be in the brand of spray. Haven't seen anyone mention 505 not working on polyester.
You could do a test sandwich to see how it works for you before trying it on an entire quilt.
