Can someone give me the steps to set up my machine for stipple quilting? I have a pfaff tiptronic 2040 and would like to know what setting you use to begin stipple quilting. I know that you have a stipple foot which I have, and that you lower the feed dogs but what tensions do you use and any other settings or info that might be helpfull. I live in an area that does not have a sewing machine store close by. Thanks for any info.

If you have the IDT (?) feature, raise it on the backside of the needle, because you won't be using that. Lower feed dogs and use needle down position if you have one. Pratice on a sample quilt first, then decide if you need to change anything.

Used short stitchs. I don't change tension.

My Pfaff has a "middle" position on the presser foot especially for FMQ. Check to see if yours does. It kind of clicks back into the middle position. I usually don't change the tension either but do a lot of practice to see if your stitches look the same on both sides.

Always bring bobbin thread to the top and hold both threads to the back before starting. I am just learning not to be afraid to change thread tension as needed. Makes a big difference. Practice on something other than the quilt!
