Stitch in the ditch
 

Can anyone tell me if that is some site on line that shows the tricks of Stitching in the ditch on the long arm. I have the extention table and an open toed food for my machine and have just accepted a lon cabin quilt that needs to be SID.

I don't know of a site with tips, but I can give you some of my own. A SID foot works much better for me that free motion, and I use that invisible thread. Come to think of it, Craftsy.com offers a video class of free motion quilting that covers SID. I think it's by Ann Pedersen. Hope this helps.

I use a walking foot and the clear nylon thread for the top, and a thread that matches the backing in the bobbin. I have been told that babies can wrap their finger around the clear thread, although I find that hard to believe since the thread is sewn into the fabric.

I use rulers from OffTheEdgeQuilting.com. They are indented to accommodate my longarm foot. There are little tabs at each end that you align with the seam line then the indention is just the right size for following the seam with your machine. I got much better when I got these rulers. I have the 9" size and the Itty Bitty. It does require practice, but you get better the more you do. Also, I have found going down is much easier than going across. I can't go up at all as I can't see where I'm going. Hope this offers some help.

use a ruler made especially for long-arm stitching. Offtheedgequilting.com like Lfletcher suggested, or gadgetgirls.com or quiltingbythebay.com (I think) or Kingsmen quilting (not sure of their site offhand). and slow your sewing down... there are lots of you tube videos on this subject too so you can do a search.
